Peter A DeSouza- a men’s wear shop

This men’s wear boutique was established by a Goan family, settled in Ahmedabad since 1914. The design brief required incorporating the Goan cultural background into the ambience of their new shop in a subtle way. In response to this, the Portuguese arches and bay windows have been used to add a spatial dimension and to conceal the unwanted columns. The wooden columns and the beams help divide the space visually into the required sections. The furniture has been exclusively designed in the Goan fashion, using solid wood along with iron strips/studs, beaten copper sheets and brass trims for detail. The terracotta floor, antique paint finish on the walls and Mario Miranda sketches on Goa take the project to its finer detail.
