Aryaman Sample Houses No. 1 & 5
The idea was to design contemporary Indian houses which remain culturally rooted by making use of local crafts. Materials like beaten copper and brass, along with crafts like inlay-work and shital-patti have been used with finesse to ‘Indianize’ the two houses. The traditional turned-wood lacquered furniture of Gujarat and the furniture pieces like the petis, patars and bureaus have been used for this modern-day house setting. A few old embellished teak boxes have been used all over the house as one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. All the other furniture pieces have been custom-designed & hand-crafted.
